Leveraging Strategic Partners and Suppliers to Innovate

Brad will share how Alberta Livestock and Meat Agency (ALMA) has embarked on a journey of linking food safety to animal health and public health in its "One-Health" framework. He will show how this framework will create more rapid pathogen detection, as well as new and innovative drug and naturally remedies for productions systems. ALMA has invested in innovators within the processing, manufacturing, marketing system and has funded research and development within the primary livestock production through the value chain. Brad will discuss how the flow of critical information gets from the consumer back to the production end. He will also share how the livestock and meat sector has responded by investing to become more efficient, innovative and responsive to the growing global demand of high quality food, particularly proteins. So whether it is scouting new technologies to transform the food manufacturing system in Alberta, or investing in research that will change diets, behavior and overall health, ALMA's role is to a be a catalyst and bring transformational information and innovation to life.
